It all started in 1979, when Steven Derkatch became a licensed Optician. After working for several different Optical stores, he opened his own in Oct. of 1983. The store, Great Neck Opticians was an immediate success.

Steven attributes this success to his being meticulous in making sure the prescriptions are made exactly as prescribed, and believes that customer service is the only way to keep people coming back.

Prescription Sport Goggles and Ski Goggles were always a big part of the practice as Steven and his staff tried to separate themselves from the chain stores. In 1997 the Internet was the next logical step.

Very few Optical stores have the expertise to do prescription sport goggles and Great Neck Opticians has stepped in to fill that void. With over 20 years of experience in making these goggles, you are assured of getting the right goggle, and because they are Opticians first, you know the prescription will be exact.

We are now moving into the 21st century with a newly designed web site and more performance enhancing Sport Goggles than ever before.
